Vice President of Biomedical Engineering

Yang Yun, PhD received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Christian Brother’s University, a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Memphis, and a Ph.D. in Engineering at the University of Memphis. He accepted a postdoctoral fellowship at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in the Dept. of Biomedical Engineering, where he investigated non-viral gene therapy using novel biomaterials. His work in gene therapy continued at the University of Akron as an Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering. In addition, he developed research programs in targeted drug delivery systems for cancer, antibacterial drug delivery systems for cystic fibrosis and other infectious diseases, and biodegradable polyurethanes for tissue engineering applications. To date, he obtained extramural funds from NIH, ABIA and industry, including a CAREER award from the National Scientific Foundation for his research in non-viral gene therapy.
